To create a commonplace for local growers, craft makers, and small businesses alike to sell products and promote services, therefore encourage sustainability and strengthening the local economy and community morale.
We would like to see our town become more diverse in the way of options for community involvement. We have seen great improvements in the recent past such as the Recreation Center, the Greenway, and The MAC. As the aforementioned have enhanced the sense of community we, too, as the Community Market would like to contribute to that same spirit. We are modeling The Community Market after The Chattanooga Market on a smaller scale. If you were to visit The Chattanooga Market you would witness an incredible sense of community and positive energy. We would like a place where people can congregate with friends and family, support the local economy, and learn. We envision local music from time to time, other types of entertainment, food trucks, and vendors selling local products anywhere from produce to fresh meats, canned goods, crafts, herbal remedies and honey. Eventually, we see food demonstrations and fresh from the farm potlucks. We would like The Community Market to be a place where residents of Manchester and those of surrounding areas automatically pencil in a visit to The Community Market in their schedules every Saturday. Kind of like the nursery rhyme says “to market to market”.
